Technological progress will continue to be the theme of the development of the photovoltaic industry

The reporter learned from the 2019 high-efficiency battery technology development and equipment application seminar held in Beijing on the 28th that in recent years, China's photovoltaic industry has changed from the pursuit of speed, scale to sustainable and high-quality development. Looking ahead, technological progress will remain the theme of the development of the photovoltaic industry.
In 2018, after experiencing short-term fluctuations, the whole industry still achieved good results overall, and the production scale of all links in the industrial chain continued to grow. Experts said that the application of technology such as diamond wire cutting and the mass production of PERC batteries have promoted the rapid improvement of product performance and the rapid decline of cost in 2017-2018. It is expected that component technologies such as double-sided, half-chip, MBB and laminated will be Rapid development, N-type batteries, PERC batteries, Topcon, HIT and other battery technologies will lead the way in the development of photovoltaic cell technology.
China's photovoltaic industry has developed rapidly in recent years, and its industrial scale has expanded rapidly. The market share of all links in the industrial chain has ranked first in the world for many years. China has become an important photovoltaic power in the world.
According to the data provided by China Photovoltaic Industry Association, in 2018, China's polysilicon production exceeded 250,000 tons, up 3.3% year-on-year; wafer production was about 109.2GW, up 19.1% year-on-year; battery production was about 87.2GW, up 21.1% year-on-year. The module output reached 85.7GW, an increase of 14.3% over the same period of last year, and ranked first in the world for 12 consecutive years. In 2018, China's new PV installed capacity exceeded 44GW, maintaining the industry status of the world's largest PV installation market for six consecutive years.
Wang Bohua, vice chairman and secretary-general of China Photovoltaic Industry Association, once pointed out that the photovoltaic industry has become one of the industries in China that can simultaneously participate in international competition and gain advantages in industrialization.
In this process, China's photovoltaic technology is developing rapidly, and the industry is in a period of rapid change. According to Wang Shijiang, deputy secretary-general of China Photovoltaic Industry Association, in terms of product efficiency, in 2018, the average conversion efficiency of polycrystalline black silicon cells produced in China by scale exceeded 19%, and single crystal and polycrystalline black silicon cells using PERC battery technology. The average conversion efficiency reached 21.8% and 20.3%, respectively, which was significantly higher than that in 2017.
"In the past few years, China has basically realized the localization of equipment in the conventional photovoltaic cell production line, and the technical equipment such as large-scale mass production of high-efficiency batteries has also achieved breakthroughs in localization, and the cost of new production lines has dropped significantly." Wang Shijiang said Looking forward to the future, the advancement of photovoltaic technology will continue to be the main means to promote the cost reduction of the photovoltaic industry. PERC batteries, Topcon, HIT, etc. are the main development directions of future battery technology.
"The relationship between the above-mentioned photovoltaic cell technologies is not one or the other, but they coexist and have their own advantages." Li Shijun, general manager of Shenzhen Jiejiawei Innovation Energy Equipment Co., Ltd. added.
However, it should also be noted that in the above-mentioned key equipments in the field of battery technology, although there are already enterprises in the layout and research and development, there are still gaps compared with the advanced level in foreign countries, especially in the key materials of photovoltaics. If you don't master the core technology, you will fall into a passive situation in global trade. Intellectual property disputes may become a relatively big focus in the future. In order to ensure industrial safety and further reduce the cost of photovoltaic power generation, it should follow the development trend of photovoltaic cell technology and continue to promote the localization of photovoltaic equipment.
At present, the promotion of photovoltaic core technology and equipment development has been included in the special national research and development plan of the Ministry of Science and Technology. According to Jin Hao, vice president of Jinko Energy Holdings Co., Ltd., the key project of “Renewable Energy and Hydrogen Energy Technology”, which was implemented in 2018. The solar energy part has 10 contents, and proposes research on cutting-edge photovoltaic core technology and equipment to support the photovoltaic industry to maintain production and market share in the world, and to lay the foundation for the full realization of photovoltaic parity online. Its mission is to break through the core technologies and equipment for the large-scale utilization of photovoltaics, improve the localization ratio of core equipment and its production lines, and achieve the international advanced level of photovoltaic system and manufacturing, and some of the technologies are internationally leading. "This has pointed out the direction for promoting the technological advancement of China's high-efficiency photovoltaic key equipment." Jin Hao said.
