Europe's second largest offshore wind farm has been put into operation

According to foreign media reports, one of the world's largest offshore wind farms - Gemini offshore wind farm has been officially put into operation. The Gemini power plant is located in the North Sea of Europe, about 85 kilometers from the Groningen coast of the Netherlands and 2.6TWh per year. Gemini includes 150 wind turbines covering 68 square kilometers. This address is chosen because the average wind speed in this area is about 36 km / h.
It is reported that, Gemini wind turbines installed after the installation of the total power generation capacity of 600MW, will become the world's second largest offshore wind farm, second only to the British "London array" offshore wind farm. Gemini wind turbines generate electricity that is collected into two nearby substations and then transported to the Dutch port Eemshaven. Then a ground station will manage and maintain the entire facility, and then send electricity to the country's power grid. In the next few decades, the Gemini offshore wind farm will supply electricity to 1.5 million inhabitants, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by about 1.25 million tons per year.
The project took more than two years to complete the construction, the Netherlands Van Oord and Siemens contracted most of the construction.
"We have made a significant contribution to the sustainable development of the Netherlands," said Matthias Haag, CEO of Gemini, "we have completed the construction of this wind farm in a budget and in a more secure manner." Gemini will make an important contribution to the sustainable development of the Netherlands.
