Chinese shipbuilding contrarian locked over the annual order volume champion

This year, the global orders for new vessels was 19.51 million revised gross tonnons, an increase of 7.83 million tons of gross tonnage.

China topped the list of 713 million revised gross tonnages, with South Korea and Japan ranking second and third respectively at 5.74 million revised gross tons and 1.82 million revised gross units. China's market share reached 36.3%, nearly 7 percentage points higher than South Korea's 29.4%. In November, orders for new ships worldwide were 1.4 million revised gross tonnage (CGT), up 400,000 revised gross tons from the previous month. China ranked first again with 910,000 revised gross tonnages of new orders, followed by Italy (310,000), South Korea (80,000) and Japan. According to the current trend, it is almost impossible for South Korea to take orders more than China in the last month.

South Korean media said that although there are still some time left from the end of the year, judging from the current situation, it is probable that South Korea will hand over the annual shipbuilding order winner to China again this year after 2011 after a lapse of 7 years.

As of the beginning of this month, the global hand-held orders amounted to 74.83 million revised gross tonnages, while China made 270.5 million revised gross tonnages, with Japan and South Korea having 15.83 million and 15.8 million revised gross tons respectively.
