Selection of Fixed Points for Automotive Low Voltage Harnesses

In automotive circuits, automotive wiring harnesses are an important part. The entire vehicle wiring harness is arranged in every corner of the vehicle. Damage to the wiring harness directly affects the electrical performance of the vehicle. In the design process of automotive wiring harness, its safety is the main consideration, and the control of the harness direction is an important content in the three-dimensional design of the harness. The setting of a good fixed point and the choice of fixing methods are prerequisites for the reliability of the wiring harness arrangement. Today, we mainly set several key points for the location of the wire harness fixing points.

1. The distance between the wire harness and the two fixed points should not be too large. The control should be about 300mm. In the harsh environment such as muddy water, the fixed distance of the cable ties should not exceed 150mm, and try to use 7*12 cable ties or studs. band.

2. When the wiring harness is arranged with right-angled corners, both sides of the right-angled corner need to increase the fixed point. In the obtuse-angled corner, the straight-line distance control can be adopted to avoid sharp corner turning points.

3. When a fixed point is set on the trunk of the branch point, the fixed point should be as close as possible to the fixed point under the permission of the process (minimum 10mm), and the distance between the fixed point and the branch point should not exceed 100mm.

4. All wiring harness connectors need to be relieved of stress when exiting the high-risk area. The wiring harness should be kept within 120mm of the back of the connector. Fix points (tether straps) should be set. If this is not possible, stress relief should be done behind the connector (such as tying the harness to the connector housing structure) and fixing points should be added within 300 mm behind the connector.
