Where are the future opportunities for China's wind power?

According to statistics, the installed capacity per unit area of Germany is 155 kWh per square kilometer, and many German states even reach an installed density of 200, 300 kW per square kilometer. In China, Jiangsu, Hubei, Hunan, Anhui and other parts of the Middle East, the installed capacity per unit of land area is 50 kWh per square kilometer, and the lowest is 10 kW per square kilometer, which is at least 3 times or even 10 times worse than Germany.

Second, decentralized development is relatively fragmented, land acquisition is difficult, and wind energy resources need to be further developed. Qin Haiyan believes that the next step of decentralized wind power must be combined with county economic development, so that wind power can promote the development of local county economy, including the combination of characteristic towns and local people's livelihood. This will mobilize the enthusiasm of the local government and farmers, and let the decentralized wind power have a lot to do.

Third, wind power manufacturers are also facing new challenges, namely how to use advanced IT technology to improve the operation level of wind turbines. Nowadays, many manufacturers have begun to use digital twin technology to digitally model the entire wind turbine. Through the diagnosis and analysis of the digital modeling model, the prediction can be evaluated before the failure, and preventive maintenance can be carried out in advance.

At this stage, China's renewable energy power generation accounts for 5%. In the future, with the increase in power generation, can China's power grid not be able to withstand it? Qin Haiyan said that many foreign countries have done such research reports. In a power system, when the wave energy of wind power and photovoltaics accounts for less than 20% of power generation, the current technology and management methods do not need to be adjusted. The system is fully capable of handling this 20% fluctuating power access.

In the future, when renewable energy reaches 100% of power generation, it is necessary to further improve the flexibility of the entire power system, which can be solved by energy storage. After the energy storage problem is solved, the entire power system will undergo tremendous changes, and the volatility of wind and light will be dealt with by mobilizing the demand side flexibility.

Germany, Denmark and many other European and American countries are developing in this direction. Qin Haiyan believes that China should also be firm in this direction. After all, the full use of renewable energy such as wind power and photovoltaics can solve the human energy and environmental crisis.
