Automobile production and sales have declined for three consecutive months. China Automobile Association predicts: August to December may be negative

On August 11, the China Automobile Manufacturers Association (hereinafter referred to as "China Automobile Association") information conference was held in Beijing. Data show that in July, the chip crisis, raw material pressure and other adverse effects still exist, coupled with the impact of extreme weather such as floods in some parts of the country and the recurrence of the new crown epidemic, the overall automobile production and sales still show a certain decline. Among them, the decline of commercial vehicles was significantly higher than that of passenger vehicles, with a significant year-on-year decline in production and sales. Driven by light passenger cars, passenger cars are still showing growth. The production and sales of passenger cars declined year-on-year due to the shortage of chips, but the rate of decline narrowed.
"Three consecutive months of decline are expected. More than July, we predict that in the next few months of 2021, car sales will continue to grow negatively year-on-year, but the cumulative sales for the whole year will be higher than last year." China Automotive Industry Introduction by Xu Haidong, Deputy Chief Engineer of the Association.
According to its analysis, this was caused by the severe decline in China's auto production and sales from January to April last year due to the impact of the new crown epidemic, and the accumulated demand during the period was dispersed to May to December. Entering 2021, automobile production and sales have remained at a normal level, and there will be no low and high levels around 2020. In the next period of time, the decline will narrow.

Car production and sales continued to decline year-on-year
In July, automobile production and sales continued to decline year-on-year. This was the three consecutive decline in China's automobile production and sales.
Statistics from the China Automobile Association show that in July, the production and sales of automobiles were 1.863 million and 1.864 million respectively, a decrease of 4.1% and 7.5% from the previous month, and a decrease of 15.5% and 11.9% from the same period last year.
Compared with the same period in 2019, production and sales increased by 3.2% and 2.7% year-on-year, respectively. The output growth rate increased by 0.8 percentage points from June, and the sales growth rate turned from negative to positive. From January to July, the production and sales of automobiles were 14.440 million and 14.756 million vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 17.2% and 19.3% respectively. The growth rate continued to fall by 7 and 6.3 percentage points from January to June. Compared with the same period in 2019, production and sales increased by 3.4% and 4.2% year-on-year, respectively. The increase in output was the same as that in the first six months, and the increase in sales was 0.2 percentage points lower than that in the first six months.

In July, passenger vehicle production and sales were 1.548 million and 1.551 million, down 0.5% and 1.1% month-on-month, and down 10.7% and 7.0% year-on-year. Among the main types of passenger vehicles, compared with the previous month, the production and sales of multifunctional passenger vehicles (MPVs) have increased rapidly, and the sales of crossover passenger vehicles have increased rapidly, with a slight decrease in output, and the production and sales of other types have decreased slightly. ; Compared with the same period of the previous year, the sales of cross-type passenger vehicles increased slightly, and the output declined. The production and sales of the other three types of passenger vehicles all declined.
From January to July, passenger vehicle production and sales were 11.394 million and 11.56 million, a year-on-year increase of 20.1% and 21.2%. Among the main types of passenger vehicles, compared with the same period of last year, the production and sales of the four major types of passenger vehicles all showed an increase, and the growth rate continued to fall from January to June.
The production and sales of commercial vehicles dropped sharply year-on-year. In July, the production and sales of commercial vehicles were 315,000 and 312,000, down 18.8% and 30.1% month-on-month, and down 33.2% and 30.2% year-on-year. Among the main types of commercial vehicles, the production and sales of trucks and buses both declined compared with June, and the decline of trucks was even more pronounced. Compared with the same period of the previous year, the production and sales of passenger cars maintained rapid growth, and the decline of trucks was rapid.
In July, among the subdivisions of trucks, the production and sales of minivans increased compared with June, and the production and sales of the other three types of trucks decreased to varying degrees. Among them, the decline of heavy trucks was even more pronounced; compared with the same period last year, The production and sales of the four major types of trucks all declined, with heavy and mini trucks falling more significantly. Among the passenger car types, the production and sales of the three major types of passenger car types have declined to varying degrees compared with June, with large and medium-sized passenger cars falling faster; compared with the same period last year, the production and sales of light passenger cars have shown rapid growth, while medium-sized passenger cars have declined. Slightly lower, the decline of large passenger cars is more obvious.
From January to July, the production and sales of commercial vehicles were 3.045 million and 3.196 million, an increase of 7.6% and 12.9% year-on-year. Among the main types of commercial vehicles, the production and sales of passenger cars and trucks continued to grow compared with the same period of the previous year, and the growth rate dropped from January to June.
From January to July, among the main types of trucks, the production and sales of mini trucks continued to decline compared with the same period of the previous year. The other three types of trucks maintained growth, and the growth rate of medium-sized trucks was the highest. Among the main types of passenger cars, the production and sales of large passenger cars declined slightly compared with the same period last year, while medium and light passenger cars maintained rapid growth.

New energy vehicle production and sales continue to break new records
In July, the new energy vehicle market showed the characteristics of "not low in the off-season". Production and sales continued to grow month-on-month and year-on-year, and both reached historical highs, reaching 284,000 vehicles and 271,000 vehicles, respectively, representing a month-on-month increase of 14.3% and 5.8%, a year-on-year increase. 1.7 times and 1.6 times.
Among the main types of new energy vehicles, the production and sales of pure electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles have increased compared with June, and the growth rate of plug-in hybrid vehicles has been more obvious; compared with the same period last year, pure electric and The production and sales of plug-in hybrid vehicles continued to maintain rapid growth.
