Wärtsilä launches its first compact high-speed engine

It is reported that the technology group Wärtsilä launched its first Wärtsilä brand high-speed engine to consolidate its position as a global leader in the marine and marine markets.
Wärtsilä launches its first compact high-speed engine Wärtsilä 14 was officially unveiled at the International Workboat Show in New Orleans, USA. This compact high-speed engine is designed to meet space and weight constraints and reduce capital expenditures to meet current and future global emissions regulations, providing customers with greater efficiency, safety and environmental sustainability. Sex.
As the Wärtsilä brand continues to offer a wider range of options for its specific operational needs, the debut of this new engine further helps Wärtsilä's vision of a smart ocean.
Designed to support a wide range of applications in the marine and offshore markets, the Wärtsilä14 can be used as a main propulsion unit or as an auxiliary generator set, making it ideal for installing hybrid systems.
This compact but powerful high-speed engine is available in 12- and 16-cylinder configurations with mechanical propulsion power output of 755 to 1340 kW and 675 to 1155 KWe in auxiliary and diesel-electric configurations.
Based on key considerations such as power-to-weight ratio, fuel type, energy efficiency, safety and environmental compliance, Wärtsilä's latest generator set products are ideal for ships, ship owners and operators. Operating conditions include tugboats, fishing boats, offshore service vessels, small ferries, and commercial auxiliary machinery markets.
This product is the result of a close collaboration between Wärtsilä and Liebherr. Liebherr is one of the world's largest manufacturers of construction machinery and a leading technology supplier in the vertical sector in many other industries.
The first Wärtsilä 14 products are scheduled to be delivered in the second half of 2019, and Liebherr will be responsible for engine development, classification and production. This new engine will be supported by Wärtsilä's unparalleled global lifecycle support and service network.
Stefan Wiik, vice president of Wärtsilä Marine Power Solutions, said: “We are proud of this small but powerful high-speed engine because it heralds a new, strategically important market for our brand. Our global position as a leader in fully integrated technology and hybrid solutions and demonstrates the tangible benefits of our close collaboration with Liebherr."
Wärtsilä announced the launch of the generator set and refined its products by introducing the HYTug 40 design and concept. The small HYTug launched in 2017 is designed for shallow draught operation. This improved version includes two Wärtsilä 14 engines and a hybrid propulsion solution for flexible operating settings including zero emission mode. In fact, HYTug 40 is characterized by low maintenance and operating costs, and is fully compliant with global environmental regulations. If paired with the Wärtsilä Nitrogen Oxide Reduction System (NOR), it can easily meet the requirements of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Tier III. .
Wärtsilä believes that Wärtsilä 14 will set a new technical benchmark for the main propulsion and auxiliary propulsion solutions on the market and become a benchmark for real financial, operational and environmental benefits; these improvements will be achieved and maintained by ship owners and operators around the world. The key to operating profitability.
